Wrought Iron: A Sturdy, Stable Medium for Decorating
By SALLY LEE Ariel Enterprises
Using wrought iron is a great way to add a strong presence to a room, an outdoor area, a door, even a bedroom. It is practically indestructable, yet it can be beautiful and intricate, as well.
Whenever I think of the park in the community that I lived in when I was a child, I think of wrought iron benches. These practical objects have grown into icons of childhood play for me and my siblings. While there were plenty of other things to set our focus on in the playground, somehow the wrought iron benches always seemed to stand out.
I guess that it was due to the simple fact that the wrought iron benches in the park were so striking. The beautiful metal furniture seemed as if they had always been there and I’m sure that they still remain in the same place. The benches reminded me of another time and place depending on my interests at the time.
For example, when I was learning about Greek and Roman Mythology, I looked at the wrought iron benches as relics from this era. They would serve to be great seating for goddesses like me and my sisters while at play. As we grew, our interests changed so did the wrought iron benches in the park.
Anyway, this is a site about wrought iron furniture, wrought iron decor, wrought iron kitchen pieces, light fixtures, candle sconces -- all things wrought iron!
I hope you have fun looking around this site and find inspiration to use wrought iron in your home decor as you find out "what we have wrought"!
